A young male Guadalupe fur seal was rescued in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Vancouver Aquarium veterinarian Martin Haulena described the animal as weak and dehydrated; it was taken to the aquarium's rescue centre.

21 January 2016 2016 · Vancouver IslandThe ecoguardians observed an older bull elephant seal on Middle Rocks accompanied by two much smaller elephant seals. The account does not establish the smaller animals’ ages or relationships.

24 November 2015 2015 · Race RocksAnne Stewart observed a young female northern elephant seal known at the reserve as Crankypants, with visible skin wounds. She read right-hand tag A114; she considered the less legible left-hand tag possibly A476. No diagnosis is assigned here.

29 April 2015 2015 · Race RocksNick Townley photographed a Steller sea lion carrying brand 966R during a field census. A later identification update from NOAA researcher Pat Gearin described the animal as a male branded as a pup at Rogue Reef, Oregon, in July 2011.

6 November 2014 2014 · Race RocksAlex Fletcher filmed a mother elephant seal and her newborn pup during the afternoon and evening. The afternoon sequence shows the pup seeking milk before nursing had begun. The reserve identified the mother as Bertha.

14 January 2014 2014 · Race RocksMike Robinson reported the return of the elephant seal known as Misery and an encounter with the male called Chunk. He described a confrontation near the ramp followed by a chase and further clashes around the island.

10 June 2013 2013 · Race RocksAlex Fletcher saw a female elephant seal bearing pink tag N472 on the boat ramp. She left when a seawater sample was taken and was later seen in the rocky bay on the south side of the island.

23 January 2013 2013 · Race RocksJulie Bowser reported two newly visiting elephant seals. One carried green tag 5086 and appeared to her to be an animal photographed at the reserve earlier that year, now missing a second tag. The previous identity is retained as tentative.

6 July 2012 2012 · Race RocksAlex Fletcher saw the elephant seal pup called Squall coming up the boat ramp with wet fur. He interpreted this as evidence of a swim, while noting that he had not watched her in the water and could not establish whether she had swum previously.

23 March 2012 2012 · Race RocksAlex Fletcher saw the male elephant seal called Misery and a smaller female back on Great Race that morning. The female had a fresh-looking wound near her left eye. A connection to an earlier aggressive encounter was suggested by the source but was not established.

The same account follows the pup through subsequent disturbances, when it was seen with a shoulder wound and without its mother. Those later updates are not counted as separate encounters.

27 September 2011 2011 · Race RocksAdam Harding photographed three California sea lions with readable brands 984, 1052 and 1032 hauled out on the northeast corner of Great Race. NOAA researcher Pat Gearin later supplied their marking histories. Other unreadable brands were mentioned but are excluded from this count.
